The Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives (DALN) is seeking contributions from trans*-identified adults. In particular, the DALN would like to hear from trans*identified adults, 25 years old and older who are currently enrolled at a four-year college or university in Ohio.

The Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives is the world’s largest publicly available archive of personal stories related to literacy (reading, writing, composing, meaning-making). The goal is to provide a historical record of the literacy practices and values of different communities, including how practices and values develop and change over time. Contributors may be anonymous of pseudonymous; and contributors may retain copyright of their narratives.

For more information about the DALN, please go to daln.osu.edu. You may view narratives contributed by participants at the TransOhio Symposium by using the search term, “TransOhio.” Specific narratives which may be of interest and provide a sense of what a narrative can cover: Kate Bornstein’s “Kate Talking with Ginger;” Alison Davison’s “A Slice of My Transition Tale;” Keith Dorwick’s “Getting Called Fag.” Use the authors or titles to search for the narratives athttp://daln.osu.edu

If you have any questions or concerns, or if you would like to schedule a time to contribute a narrative, please email Deb at kuzawa.1@osu.edu or message her at facebook.com/miz.ginger.jones.

I’m a senior at Otterbein University who is desperately trying to finish my Honors thesis so I can graduate. I’m a Psychology and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies double major (with an Equine minor, but that has no bearing on my study). My study is on sex and gender difference in mental rotation.

This study isn’t the best, but I’m hoping to use it to increase trans awareness at Otterbein. The study consists of a mental rotation task, questions about hormonal medication usage, and Personal Attributes Questionnaire. It takes about 20 minutes to complete.

To complete my study, I need 40 trans* participants (transgender, transsexual, genderqueer, etc). The first 40 trans* participants will receive a $5 Amazon gift certificate. Currently, only three people have signed up for the gift certificates, so there are plenty left.

You can access my study at the link below:
http://www.otterbein.edu/std/abigail.santorine

If you could help me by distributing my study to any trans* folks who wouldn’t mind helping me out, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

IRB approval number is HS # 11/12-23a.
