Please join TranOhio and Board Member, Jacob Nash, on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 3pm at the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland for an open community conversation about about hate crimes and the Transgender community. Guests include Sharon M. McGowan, Attorney with the Appellate Section of the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, as well as other local attorney’s and individuals from the Cleveland-area FBI office.
All are welcome to attend, including family and friends.
After the community conversation, please join us at the Justice Center as we march to City Hall for Cleveland’s Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil and rally. TransOhio’s Transgender pride flag will be proudly flying over Cleveland City Hall in honor of those who’ve been lost to remember and honor those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. Not every person represented during the Day of Remembrance self-identified as transgender, but each was a victim of violence based on bias or prejudice against transgender people.
The LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland is located at 6600 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102.
The Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil begins at the Justice Center, 1200 Ontario Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44113-1664 at 5:45pm, followed by a short march to City Hall. Program begins at 6pm.
