Meet some of our speakers:
Kayden is a transgender man in his early twenties currently attending The Ohio State University majoring in psychology with graduate school on the horizon. Growing up in Akron, Ohio he came out as a lesbian in 8th grade and then later started his transition while in high school. Kayden offers the perspective of a transgender youth that navigated both the catholic and public educational systems. For the past 3 years Kayden has spoken to numerous organizations and college social work, education and sexuality/health classes providing Transgender 101 and telling his personal transition story.
Paula is a transgendered woman residing in the Columbus area after moving here from Michigan. Paula lives fulltime as her true self and has been in transition for several years now. She underwent her GCS in July of 2009. Paula graduated from Michigan State University in 1972. Paula worked nearly thirty years as a plumber pipefitter until her retirement in the fall of 2008. She has been active in such hobbies as competition shooting and has competed in several regional and national competitions. Paula is in a committed relationship with her partner Melissa and she has two adult children from her previous marriage as well as two grandchildren. She is also very proud of involvement with TransOhio and NCTE.
Jennette is a post-op male-to-female transsexual woman. She is a lifelong resident of the Dayton, Ohio area and is very active in the LGBT and TG community on the local, state, and national levels. She is a board member of the Greater Dayton LGBT Center, a member of the Dayton Pride Partnership, a board member and vice chair of the Equality Ohio (c)4 board, a member of the Out and Equal Transgender Advisory Committee, a member of the National Center for Transgender Equality, and works with the Ohio GLAAD Media Advocates.
