(Ohio) Lobby Day for Equality 2010 – Registration Now Open!

Lobby Day for Equality 2010 – May 19, 2010
Registration Now Open

For the last four years, HUNDREDS of Ohioans have visited their elected officials to talk with them about equal rights for ALL Ohioans regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Mothers, fathers, families, clergy members, students – straight and gay, young and old – they took a day off from school or work to come to Columbus for Lobby Day.

The Equal Housing and Employment Act (EHEA) will be heard in the Ohio Senate soon and this is the best chance ever for it to pass.  When it passes, this will be the first pro-equality bill ever enacted at the state level in Ohio.

But make no mistake, the EHEA will not pass if we don’t work for it.

Bring your story to the statehouse on May 19th to make a difference.

It is sometimes tempting to think we don’t need to work as hard for equality anymore. However, it is more important than ever that you tell your legislator that discrimination will not be tolerated in Ohio.

Discrimination is an all-too-unpleasant reality for many LGBT people in our state. We need every one who supports equality to join us in Columbus and speak up – regardless of your legislators’ current position. Legislators who are not supportive of LGBT rights need to keep hearing about our lives and our issues.  Legislators who are supportive of LGBT equality need to know that we support them as they have supported us.

Ohioans should not fear losing their livelihood because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.  It’s time Ohio’s laws matched Ohioan’s values.
As always, we’ll help you prepare and get you important information and facts to make sure you’re comfortable and ready.  You’ll get tips and training, and be assigned to a team on Lobby Day to support one another and share the lobbying experience.

Don’t wait! Click here to register now for Lobby Day 2010 – your story is a very important asset to make the day a success!
